12 hours and 800 miles later... We arrive in the mecca of the mid-west! Turns out this weekend was also the Chicago Marathon and were not the only tourists around. Summer weather had us spending most of our time outdoors: walking by the lake, and checking out downtown by foot.
Centrally located Millenium Park had some interesting charm. A huge silver bean and giant illuminated fountains. To complete our cultural experience we went to the Art Institue of Chicago and a classic jazz club, The Green Mill.
the bean...
Got an amazing view from the clouds at the John Hancock Signature Lounge on the 96th floor! However, the best view of the city came from on a speed boat ride that launched from Navy Pier.
All the walking we were doing to get around led to some serious eating!
Highlights include the Gage, Yolk and The Purple Pig... "cheese, swine and wine"
Walking along the lakeshore.
