Grand Canyon, Salt Lake City and Boise

As we travel, we have seen a lot of cool RV's. This one takes the cake!!

On the last day in Zion a couple was telling us about their visit to the Grand Canyon the previous day. They told us that the North Rim is a quick drive from Zion, and that it is well worth the trip so we decided to add it to the list. It was the end of the season and starting to get pretty chilly, so most of the park was closed. Yet, we managed to take a short walk to a beautiful view looking across this vast space, your whole field of vision was filled with this incredible sight. 

At some point we will return to the Grand Canyon and check out the South Rim. We were told there is a glass floor to stand on over the canyon, and donkey-rides down into the canyon! 

From there we trekked back up through Utah to Salt Lake City. Got a recommendation from a friend to check out the Red Iguana for some mexican food.  This place is known for their mole sauce. The waitress let us try all 8 of the different variations they offer.  Some spicy, and some sweet.  They even had a pumpkin mole. On our way out, got another great tip to check out Alchemy Coffee.  Almond croissant and an Americano helped us start our day right.  

Although Seattle was the final destination we decided to split up the driving and spend one night in Boise, ID.  Expectations were low for dinner plans, but ended up being blown away by the spectacular french cuisine at Le Coq Rouge. This hidden gem features an authentic french speaking chef and waiter.  The decor was like a breath of Paris in an otherwise unmemorable rural country side. Champagne, scallops and french onion soup to start the meal.  The restaurant also features a unique wine list: displaying their selection of bottles for you to walk up to and peruse. The charming owner recommended a delicious Cote du Rhone that matched really well with entrees. Pork topped with prawns and veal milanese. Ended the meal with a rich chocolate cake along with a cream puff.  Needles to say, if you ever end up in Boise this place is a must! Le Coq Rouge.
