Portland, OR

10/29-11/1
We arrived in Portland that night, where we were hosted by two great friends from Bowdoin- Maddie and Walker Pruett. The next morning, we decided to strap on our rain gear and hike a local trail - Angel’s Rest. We were also able to view the tallest waterfall in the state - Multnomah Falls (over 500’ high).

Portland features the largest number of breweries of any city in the world, so we made sure to do plenty of beer tastings. We started off at Deschutes for a variety of local favorites, and then went over to Cascade Brewing to try their specialty, sour beers. However, the highlight was the behind-the-scenes tour given to us at Hopworks Brewery where Walker is a cellar-man (handling and managing all the beer after the initial brewing stage). We were given an extensive look at the whole brewing process, which began to make sense once we saw all the working pieces together.
